Signs of Compatibility 
Once we find a potential partner, the next step is to find out whether there is enough compatibility for the two of us to be happy together in the long term. Most of us do not have the power to see into the future, unless we are trained in the ancient science of astrology...
What we can do is:-
1.Pray to the Lord for guidance.
"Only by God's grace can one get a nice wife just as he desires. Similarly, it is only by God's grace that a girl gets a husband suitable to her heart. Thus it is said that if we pray to the Supreme Lord in every transaction of our material existence, everything will be done nicely and just suitable to our heart's desire. In other words, in all circumstances we must take shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and depend completely on His decision. Man proposes, God disposes." (Srimad Bhagavatam 3.21.28 Bhaktivedanta Purport).
2.Find out a qualified Vedic astrologer and request a compatibility horoscope. This should identify the main strengths and weaknesses of the combination, and provide an overall impression of our future prospects together.
"According to the Vedic system, the parents would consider the horoscopes of the boy and girl who were to be married. If according to astrological calculations the boy and girl were compatible in every respect, the match was called yotaka and the marriage would be accepted. Regardless of the affluence of the boy or the personal beauty of the girl, without this astrological compatibility the marriage would not take place." (Srimad Bhagavatam 9.18.23 Bhaktivedanta Purport.)
