Dharma

RELIGIOUS PRINCIPLES

OF THE FOUR PURUSHARTHAS(HUMAN GOALS)
of household life, dharma appears first on the list as
the embodiment of ethical codes that govern human action,
and moksha(liberation), being the final goal, comes last.

"Regulated human civilization promotes dharma,
artha, kama and moksha"

(Srimad Bhagavatam4.22.36 Bhaktivedanta purport)

When activities of artha(economic development) and kama
(sense gratification) are based on and regulated by dharma,
the end result is moksha.

"In human society there must be religion. Without
religion, human society is only animal society.
Economic development and sense gratification must
be based on religious principles. When religion,
economic development and sense gratification are
adjusted, liberation from this material birth, death,
old age and disease is assured."
(Srimad Bhagavatam4.22.36 Bhaktivedanta purport)
